The weekend of the Garden Specialty Association dog shows offered an opportunity to spend time with both old & new friends, as well as cheer on each others dogs. The high point for Avatar Vizslas was Taylor with his handler Carissa DeMilta-Shimpeno winning Best of Breed at the Vizsla Club of Long Island Specialty show! This is Taylor’s first BEST IN SPECIALTY SHOW win!! As the photo below shows they make a stunning pair!!

Other Avatar wins included Kayla (Dillon /Kestrel) winning 1st Place in the Veteran Bitch Class at the CVVC Specialty show. Bryce (Dillon /Kestrel) also won a Best in Veteran Sweepstakes as well as a Award of Merit at the VCLI Specialty show! Ayva (Chatter /Tosci) placed 2nd in a strong open bitch class also at the VCLI Specialty show! All in all it was a great weekend for everyone!
Approaching her Championship, Ayva & Christopher are one step closer!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!

The Avatar gang headed down to Charlotte, N.C. for what proved to be an exciting adventure at the VCA 2009 Nationals . Along with Eddie, Jackie, Dillon , Marley & Taylor was little Ms Brittania’s Casey Wetherbee, a bold little vizsla girl that came along for her first big show. It was
a truck packed with dog food, leashes, poopy bags, treats, blankets & beds, barely enough room for the two humans leading the pack!! After a 12 hour trip to Charlotte, the gang (minus Ms Casey, who decided to hang with her gal-pals) ordered room service & crashed. The days that followed were a blurr of red dogs, friends & family (oh & a trip or two, maybe three or four, to the dog park!). The team Avatar was HOT !! Max & Ayva (Chatter/Tosci) both placed in their sweepstakes classes, shining amongst the large entries. Dillon WON his Veteran class in Sweepstakes & placed 2nd in his Regular Veteran class, all at nearly 11 yrs old!! Indie (Dillon/Kestrel) won an AOM for the 4th year in a row at the VCA Nationals -WOW!! And then the moment that the tears flowed, Dillon took a 4th in the Stud Dog class, competing against some lovely & much younger dogs with their get.
Finishing off the day with smiles on our faces, we cheered for Kayla (Dillon/Ketstrel) as she won the first brace, finishing off a very long couple of days of competition.
The Vizsla Club of the Carolinas hosted a specialty the day after the VCA Nationals & again Max placed in his sweepstakes class, sister Ayva WON her sweepstakes class, then went on to WIN the 12-18mo bitches class!! We continue to be so proud of Christopher handling Ayva to near perfection, giving the crowd something to really cheer about!! We wish them continued success in the show ring.
