Blue Ribbons At The Fairgrounds!!
Taylor & Jackie are on the move again to the beautiful countryside of Back Mountain PA, finally getting out of New York traffic just in time to see the sun set over the mountains. We checked in to a nice Staybridge suites in Hazleton welcoming the warmth of the hotel room (there was still snow on the ground) with a crystal clear night sky filled with stars outside. We woke to a beautiful view of the Valley below & headed to the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds that had recently been under several feet of water. After a good run on the grounds, Taylor & Rissa won a select award, & spent the rest of the day enjoying the sun on the fairgrounds, playing frisbee & later cheering on friends in the group ring. We met some nice local people that night while waiting for Thai takeout (be sure to check out the 5 Star restaurant if you are in the area, it has the best Chinese, Thai & sushi all in one place- heaven!!), & enjoyed some chinese tea with breakfast the next morning. With the clocks turned back an hour for daylight saving’s time & a late ring time, it really was a lazy sunday. We packed up & checked out of the hotel & headed back to the Fairground for another run, there is never enough fresh air, green grass to settle the travelers tummy, & smelly things to roll in!! Of course where there are agricultural fairgrounds, there are animals (of all kinds!) & of course Taylor likes to be as “manly” as possible, & he found a black pile of something to roll in (!) right before ring time… a quick bath of waterless shampoo & in the ring he went!
He & Carissa were amazing, winning Best of Breed with judge Carol Brown, & the nicest compliment “shown to perfection” by admirers. Whew, that “fresh air” was a charm! After another short run & scrutinizing eyes, Taylor had a long nap before the group ring. Those must’ve been sweet dreams he had because he went on to win a GROUP 1 with judge Pat Mowbray-Morgan !!! We are so proud of our Taylor & special thanks to Carissa who keeps him happy in the ring! Great teamwork!!!

Ringing the Bell at the Philadelphia Dog Show Cluster
Taylor & Jackie packed up & headed to PA for the Philadelphia Cluster Dog shows, and after getting lost for an hour at nearly midnight in a desolate Valley Forge, made their destination at the Sheraton (must be a great spot as we saw Joan Rivers & her little pup there too). The first day of showing, Taylor & Carissa won Best of Breed !! After showing in the group ring Taylor got to play his favorite sport, frisbee, at a beautiful nearby park. On day 2 Taylor got to sleep in, with a late ring time, then after a run went on to again win Best of Breed !! He and Carissa worked together, showing as an amazing combination of grace and beauty. They continued to shine making the small cut in the group ring competing with some of the number one sporting dogs in the country!
Later that night was Carissa’s baby shower! It was fun watching the mom-to-be open gifts with family & friends! On Saturday Taylor won the Select Award & became a NEW GRAND CHAMPION !! We met tons of really nice people while wandering around the show site! We headed home that night happy with our ribbons & thoughts of our new friends. We wish Carissa and Eric love and happiness with their new baby, and Taylor is looking forward to some therapy dog work & agility while Carissa takes some time off!

Avatar’s “Red” October
October was a terrific month for Avatar Vizslas!
We knew Taylor was birdy when he was a puppy and that it was only a matter of time till he completed his JUNIOR HUNTER title. He was handled by Jackie in 4 straight legs. He continues to train, working towards a senior hunter title. You can see by his smile that this is his favorite sport so far!!
Grady (Taylor/Kilee) now known as Ch Olde Ridge in Pursuit of Happiness became a NEW CHAMPION also this month, shining in the conformation ring out of the 9-12 mo puppy dog class, owner handled by Amanda! We are so proud of this new team, and wish them luck as they continue on in to the field and beyond!!!
Most recently Grady took a SELECT AWARD his first day in the Best of Breed ring, again handled by Amanda! Wow, what a star his is!!

a HOT July for Avatar Vizslas!
July started off with a bang at the yearly “Crab Cluster” dog shows in Maryland. Taylor got to do some lake swimming with his dog-pals during the hot spell after earning a Select Award day one & then an Award of Merit at the CVVC specialty. Crossing the border in to Canada a week later, Taylor & Jackie headed to the Canadian Nationals in beautiful rural Woodstock Ontario, (home of the “Springbank Snow Countess”- a record setting Holstein Freisen cow that holds the record for producing over 9,000 lbs of butterfat during her lifetime from 1919-1936). It was a long trip, stopping overnight near Buffalo with a flat tire, we met some nice “upstaters”, willing to lend a hand & find a tire that fit our little Honda Fit. We met up with friends Britt, Penny & Taylor’s puppy Bogart, Bernadette & her puppy Silli, Richard & Henry with their family Giles, Hudson, Todd & Dolly! We had a wonderful celebration together when Taylor finished his Canadian Championship with WD/BOW at the Ontario All Pointing Breed Field Dog Club.
The next day was the Canadian Nationals, with a large entry of very nice dogs. Britt showed Taylor as an Am/Can Champion to the final cut & then went BEST OF BREED!! Taylor is following in his mother’s footsteps, Indie won the Canadian Nationals in 2008! Bogart went Best in Sweepstakes, & also went first in his 6-9mo class! The “american team” was soo proud!! Our Canadian friends also gave us warm congratulations, it was a wonderful weekend!
The Chatter/Tosci puppies Ayva & Max are in sync again, little Miss Ayva stirred things up this month at the Naugatuck Valley KC show where she earned WB/BOW & became a NEW CHAMPION! Three days later she earned her first Select Award! Owner handler Christopher is is on the move with Ayva, we wish them luck! Max also earned WD/BOW this month also becoming a NEW CHAMPION!! The Avatar gang is only beginning to blossom…
